Our Mental Health and Wellbeing Leaders (MHAWLs), Lauren Salajan and Tessa Wilson work at Anakie PS on Tuesdays.
MHAWL role:
- Working with teachers to deliver specialised wellbeing programs including the Rights, Responsibilities, and Respectful Relationships Program (RRRR), Berry Street Education Model (BSEM), The Resilience Project (TRP), and the Mental Health in Primary Schools (MHiPS).
- Providing sensory supports in response to formal Allied Health assessment recommendations.
- Supporting the school community with disability inclusion and behaviour support plans
- Assisting families with referrals, support letters, and applications to relevant services and supports, eg. National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), Centrelink, Child First, Orange Door, psychologists, speech therapists, occupational therapists (OT), paediatricians.
- Supporting families to access financial supports for school uniform, shoes, groceries, Out of School Hours Care (OSHC), stationery and books.
- Liaising with community organisations, including Headspace, Wathaurong, and family services.
